About Course

Welcome to our intermediate-level course on Development Concepts and Monitoring and evaluation (M&E)! Over five days, participants will dive into the fundamental principles of programming, projects, and M&E, gaining the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the dynamic field of development. Topics covered include designing and operationalizing M&E plans, stakeholder analysis, M&E frameworks, data collection methods, and online data collection using tools like ODK/KOBO Collect. Participants will also explore objective tree and problem tree analysis, the Theory of Change, and the crucial role M&E plays in evidence-based policy and decision-making.

Through a blend of theoretical sessions and hands-on activities, our goal is to empower participants to navigate and contribute effectively to development initiatives. Join us on this educational journey, where you’ll acquire practical tools and insights to make a meaningful impact in the realm of development and evaluation.

Understand Fundamental Concepts: Gain a solid understanding of programming, projects, and the foundational principles of development.
Master Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E): Explore the intricacies of M&E, from designing and operationalizing plans to stakeholder analysis and generating stakeholder matrices.
Navigate M&E Frameworks: Learn to work with various M&E frameworks, including results frameworks, conceptual frameworks, logical frameworks, and logic models.
Define and Design Indicators: Understand the process of defining and calculating indicators, and create indicator matrices.
Grasp Data Collection Methods: Explore different data collection methods and create effective data collection plans. Get hands-on experience with online data collection using tools like ODK/KOBO Collect.
Conduct Objective and Problem Tree Analysis: Develop skills in objective tree and problem tree analysis, enhancing your ability to assess and address development challenges.
Explore Theory of Change: Understand the Theory of Change methodology and its application in the context of development initiatives.
